The brigade entered Vietnam in April of 1966 with responsibility for all communications in theater.


It provided planning, installation and maintenance support for an extensive communication network in Vietnam and in Thailand.  The Brigade also had communication responsibility for all Southeast Asian communications and ran communication cables between Vietnam and the Phillipines as part of the worldwide network. 


The Brigade had locations throughout the country but in general the country was divided within each tactical corps among several Signal Battalions:


I Corps

      37th Signal Bn. at Da Nang

       63rd Signal, Bn. at Phu Bai


II Corps

      41st Signal Bn. at Qui Nhon

      43rd Signal Bn. at Pleiku

      73rd Signal Bn. at Cam Ranh Bay

      459th Signal, Bn. at various times Nha Trang, Phu Bai, and Ban Me Thuot

III Corps

     36th Signal Bn. at Long Binh

     39th Signal Bn. at Vung Tau and Long Binh

     69th Signal Bn., Tan Son Nhut, Saigon

     86th Signal, Bn. at Cu Chi

     972nd Signal Bn. at Long Binh


IV Corps

    52nd Signal Bn., Can Tho
